Private Power & Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Ministry of Energy (Power Division), Government of Pakistan, invites stakeholders to a consultative workshop on the digitization of the power distribution sector through Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) deployment. The initiative envisages installing, operating and maintaining approximately 16.2 million smart meters through a private-sector AMI service provider under an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process with IFC as Transaction Adviser. PPIB has prepared draft "Framework Guidelines for Deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure through Public-Private Partnerships, 2026" and seeks feedback from international and local financial institutions, investors, sponsors, equipment manufacturers, telecom operators, technology integrators and other stakeholders.
