The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director / Director General to lead the National Institute for Demographics and Identity Research (N@DIR) in Islamabad. The role requires an experienced leader to establish and manage national research, testing and technology-transfer capabilities in biometrics, digital identity and related technologies.

| Educational Background | Master's/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Computer / Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Cybersecurity, Biometrics, Computer Vision, Digital Identity or a closely related discipline from an HEC-recognized institution. Preference given to PhD/Doctorate; qualifications must be attested by HEC. |
| Experience & Requirements | Minimum 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience including senior leadership in technology, research, engineering, biometrics, digital identity or high-assurance ICT systems. Strong managerial skills for R&D and tech-to-market transition, experience in benchmarking, testing, standards, certification, technology evaluation, intellectual property and commercialization. Experience in establishing research environments, biometric testing & evaluation, and leading multi-disciplinary teams is required. Familiarity with national-scale identity systems, AFIS/ABIS, biometric modalities and security/privacy governance is desirable. |
| Key Responsibilities | Provide strategic, scientific and institutional leadership for N@DIR; develop and lead national research programmes in biometrics, digital identity and AI/ML; establish national testing, benchmarking and certification capabilities; drive research-to-commercialization and technology transfer; build partnerships with universities, research institutions and industry; manage research grants, fellowships and postgraduate programmes; and represent N@DIR at national and international forums. |
